YERINGTON 300 MAY 29-30, 2010
Sam Berri takes 1st Overall! What a great day for Sam and Team Margarita! Not only did the weather cooperate with occasional breezes and no showers, but the #149 car with the Acura motor and Goodyear tires had a somewhat flawless finish. Sam went around and around the course setting a new record of 53 mph, old record being 48 mph. Sam smoked the competition by a whole 48 minutes. The “old guns” Lou Baker, Bob Martin, Don and Ellen Karraker and young Dustin Wise on Team Margarita were awesome with a 30 second pit stop. Sam did have one flat due to the large rock that somehow was there in the dust when he went to pass a class 7 truck about 7 miles from Start/Finish. There was a fantastic turn out of cars and trucks for the first VORRA desert race of the 2010 season. 59 various vehicles started the race on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Wes Harbor is doing a fantastic job of promoting VORRA. It was so exciting to see the all the cars and trucks, new and old competitors alike.
The “young guns” on the Team Margarita were off trying their own driving/riding routine. Alex Baker was co-driver with Jake Povey. Rusty Wise and Chelsey Martin were jumping in halfway in the Kent Wise Racing class 10 car replacing Guy Kent and Donald. They started 1st off the line in class 10 and made one lap and 12 miles into the second lap they were done. That’s racing!
Sam and Team Margarita would like to thank Goodyear for awesome tires and Pro Pit for their continued pit support, didn’t need it, but nice to know that it is available. Thank-you to Casino West for sponsoring the race and putting up prize money, it is greatly appreciated. Thanks to Elliot and Delores at Trick Fuel, couldn’t go very far without you!
